It seems that waiting on the Lord should not be hard; yet anyone who has tried to do it knows it still is.
The bible says in Mathew 6:33, “To seek first the kingdom of God and all things shall be added unto you.???
My question has always been in addressing what does it look like “to seek first His kingdom.??? All of my life, I have been searching for God’s perfect will to emanate my being. At times it seems as though I am running in circles and still have not found it and in the process I am just making a mess of my life. Sinning comes easier than being Holy; that is for certain.
As I stumble through this journey, I think I have discovered some new truths for my life. I am coming to realize that my perspective has been off. God made me for His purpose and His command in which we are all to spend our days living, serving, and worshiping Him.
Contrary to society’s popular attitude, it’s not to have a family, make money, and enjoy the pleasures of this world. Yes, we can enjoy those things when they are the byproduct of God’s great grace but they are not our Identity. John 15:19 tells us that we are in the world but not of the world. We take this to mean that He made us to be His light, His truth, His voice, and His ambassador to a world that is hurting, fallen, and in utter pain. We are to love them and point them to the great I am, the comforter, the one that brings true peace, joy, and rest.
If I am depressed, unhappy, angry bitter, upset, or distraught then I am the one trying to control my life. I become worried and stressed because I doubt God and forget that He wants the best for me. I tend to feel like I am the one responsible for my life that I have built; my car, my job , my family. I don’t want to lose what I have. But sometimes we must lose what is closest to us in order to hear God’s still small voice. Sometimes we have so much stuff around us that God might need to start over with us. We have learned so many bad habits that our trust is in earthly possessions and not in relying on Him. We might need to come to a place where giving up the rights to ourselves and taking on no identity of ourselves so that God can then send His anointing power to build us back up the way He wants.
If we are struggling with waiting on the Lord it could be because the season you are in right now is teaching you that you still need to let it all go and believe upon Jesus to get you through. God needs us completely broken before He can build us up. Ask yourself, do you want to be used by God? Do you want to have the anointing and power of the Holy Spirit in your life, where radical things of God take place through your life or ministry? If you answer yes, then you have to be willing to relinquish care of your life in this world apart from what Jesus has for you. Wait on Him no matter what. Do not let Satan lie to you. God will come through guaranteed!
Isaiah 40:31
“but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.???
